An Open Letter From The Treasure Coast Crusaders To Our Prospective Player Parents,

We would like to thank you for visiting the Treasure Coast Crusaders website. Within in this site, you'll find photos of our players, our mission, upcoming tournaments, upcoming events, on online store to purchase Crusaders gear, and much, much more. The reason for this letter to to tell you "what we are all about" and why we started The Crusaders.

Crusader - (kro͞oˈsādər) - noun - a vigorous, aggressive movement for the defense or advancement of an idea, cause, etc.
- Merriam Webster Online Dictionary

As parents and players, most of us have seen the good and the bad of youth baseball. We think that travel / developmental baseball can be a better product than what the marketplace is currently offering. We believe in developing good ball players but even better human beings, winning is important but long term athlete development is more important, and that in order to be successful, we must foster an environment that promotes open communication and respect for everyone involved. As part of our core beliefs, we also believe in complete organizational and financial transparency... we are not involved in youth baseball to profit from our families or to exploit our players. We have launched our "crusade" to combat the bad that we've seen in youth baseball and promote the good. We have zero tolerance for politics, drama, bullying players or parents, belittling by players or parents, and poor sportsmanship. For more on our zero tolerance policy, please click here.

Treasure Coast Crusaders Mission Statement
"Our mission is to develop our members' love the game of baseball in a family environment,
free of condemnation, accepting excellence, and striving to raise children into "Major League Citizens"
on the playing field as children and in life."

As parents and as an organization, we understand it is not about us, it is about the kids. It is about having fun, it is about learning, and it is about creating a positive environment where kids can come to learn the game, to grow their love of the game, and most importantly, become "Major League Citizens".

Keeping the game fun includes making sure that everyone gets a fair amount of playing time and always staying positive. Our goal is to keep our team sizes between 9 and 11 players so that everyone can get into the game and play a fair amount. As you can imagine, as competition heats up and trophies "are in sight", this can sometimes be difficult, however, we will make our best effort to communicate with you and your child, to best set expectations on expected playing time so that there are as few surprises as possible.

We have four simple rules for our club members:

  1. Have Fun.
  2. Play With Energy.
  3. Play for Your Team.
  4. Be Responsible.

In "practice", we focus on three different areas that we refer to as the "ELM" principles.

  • E - Encourage Players to Show Great Energy
  • L - Encourage Players to Learn the Game
  • M - Encourage Players to be Resilient when they make Mistakes

From an organization standpoint, while not always perfect, as parents and coaches we believe we have a great vision for our program. No one is profiting from our program except for the children through building their love of the game... any revenues generated or funds raised are used to improve baseball operations, period. We are formally organized as a non-profit 501(c)3 organization and have an organizational structure that includes a financial controller, a marketing coordinator, a fundraising committee that is made up of business owners and professionals, a travel coordinator, and a club attorney who specializes in advising non-profit organizations; and most importantly, we are committed to complete financial and operational transparency. As such, we provide all participating member parents periodic financial reports that detail all deposits, revenues generated, and detailed withdrawals, and expenses incurred.

In conclusion, we would like to thank you for your interest in the Treasure Coast Crusaders and we hope that your vision for your child is consistent with our vision for our program.
